Grace has a new Music Director!
The Music Director Search Committee is pleased to announce that Kim Thompson will be joining the Grace staff as the new Music Director! She begins on July 8. Kim was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She holds a Master of Sacred Music degree with a choral/vocal emphasis from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from the University of Portland. Kim has fifteen years of experience leading worship as a pastoral musician for congregations in Indiana, Minnesota, and Washington. She also holds a diploma in Band Instrument Repair and worked for a year as a band instrument repair technician before joining the staff at Grace Church. In her free time, Kim enjoys biking, hiking, photography, and exploring new places. The Music Director Search Committee was made up of Rev. Eric Mason, HR Trustee Mary Ellen de la Pena, and Music Circle Members James Ruffo-Hill, Kelly Hume and Cathy Bronson. We are unanimous in our selection of Kim. Youth Sailing Trip Aboard the AdventuressAugust 28 – 31 All high school youth — rising freshman through recently graduated seniors — are invited on a trip of a lifetime aboard the historic schooner, Adventuress. We will spend 4 days/3 nights onboard this 113-foot ship, sailing through the waters of the Salish Sea. Along the way, we will learn about navigation and marine biology (Adventuress is a floating lab!); we'll search for whales and other wildlife; we'll engage in community building activities; cook meals together; create music and prayer; and even take turns sailing the ship! We will board the Adventuress at the Port of Everett Marina on Wednesday, August 28 at 10:00 a.m. and return to the Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle on Saturday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. $200/person.
